Coffee is universal. However, each country has its unique way of enjoying it, often tied to its culture, climate, or time of day.
At Columbus Café, we love taking you on a journey—so we’re taking you on a journey to discover three coffee traditions we love, and most importantly, how to recreate them at home.
Italian Espresso: Fast, Intense, Iconic
In Italy, coffee is no joke. It’s strong, short, and drunk standing at the counter, in just a few sips.
It’s the perfect morning or 11 a.m. break ritual, sugar-free for purists.

Turkish Coffee: Spicy, Slow, Traditional
Turkish coffee is almost a ceremony. Prepared in a small saucepan (the cezve), it is ground very finely and heated slowly with a little sugar (and sometimes cardamom) until it forms a foam.
It doesn’t require filtering: the grounds are left at the bottom of the cup, and the coffee is slowly sipped.
💡 To make at home?
Choose a very finely ground coffee.
Add a pinch of spice (like our Columbus Cinnamon Syrup for a twist).
Serve in a small cup and accompany with a sweet treat.
Vietnamese Coffee: Mild and Sweet (and Iced!)
Vietnamese coffee, or cà phê sữa đá, is a real favorite:
Black coffee poured over sweetened condensed milk, served hot or over ice. An intense flavor, softened by the sweetness, and an ultra-delicious texture.
💡 To make at home?
Prepare a strong espresso or filter coffee (Columbus, of course)
Add 2 tsp. of sweetened condensed milk
Serve over ice in a clear Columbus Café glass for a wow effect
